What is an RBT?

RBT stands for Registered Behavior Technician. RBT’s are paraprofessionals who practice under the close supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and/or a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) who implement behavior-analytic services. This is a nationally recognized certification that is granted by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) to persons who have completed 40-hours of training, passed a competency assessment and a proctored exam. Once they have completed this and obtain their certification they can work with children on the spectrum. RBT is the position you will often see in terms of those who deliver direct instruction, implement the behavior plans developed by the BCBA, collect data and maintain a professional relationship with parents and the community.
